To
provide local jobs and keep campground fees in the local economy.
Keep monthly camping fees, which are very important
for wintering retirees on limited incomes. They depend on the springs to
heal many ailments.
Preserve water quality in the springs instead of
turning them into a recreational swimming pool with more chemicals. This
protects the desert wetlands too.
The hot springs are the heart of the Tecopa village
and always have been. The Hummingbird plan allows for local choices about
local issues.
People using the hot springs have followed specific
practices throughout history, and have carefully upheld an agreement with
the Paiute Chief Tecopa since the 1870’s. Treaties and community
preferences should be treated with respect.
